Mobile apps deliver a superior experience and drive loyalty when thoughtfully planned, carefully strategized, and purposefully designed.
Your mobile app is going to compete with over 6 million others for the attention of your target audience. In order to succeed, your app must be thoughtfully planned, carefully strategized, and purposefully designed. There is no room for error.
But before you commit to building a native app, you should make sure that a mobile website isn’t a reasonable alternative.
Native mobile apps typically offer better performance and a superior user experience. They can leverage the devices capabilities and offer offline access to content. Native apps also result in increased customer engagement and brand awareness. However, they can be extremely expensive to create and each change will require a designer, developer, and app store update.
Mobile websites offer a much broader audience reach due to their online accessibility. They are much more cost-effective and work on any screen size or device with just one set of code. However, they typically offer an inferior user experience and can’t leverage some of the devices capabilities (such as the accelerometer) since they can only be accessed through an internet browser.
In many cases, it makes sense to have both a mobile app and a mobile website. Starting with a mobile website is a great way to acquire users on a budget. Once your idea has proven to be successful, you can invest in an accompanying mobile app.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which is better, a mobile website or native mobile app?
When deciding whether to build a mobile app or a mobile website, the right choice depends on your business objectives. If your goal is to offer mobile-friendly content to a wide range of people, then a mobile website is probably the way to go. However, if you want to better engage, interact with, and communicate with your customers to drive customer loyalty, a mobile app is an excellent choice. In many cases, you may decide you need both a mobile website and a mobile app. If done correctly, both can be a strategic and valuable choice.
Do you also design Android apps?
iPhone and Android apps share extremely similar interface elements. That means the design for an iPhone app will be almost identical to it’s Android counterpart. While I haven’t designed any apps specifically for Android, I’m confident that I could without any difficulty.
Can you code a mobile website or mobile web application?
Yes! I excel at designing and coding websites. Since a mobile web app is just a smaller version of a desktop website, I’ll have no trouble coding my designs.
What is a style guide?
A style guide is a visual rulebook of graphic standards that will help keep your interface looking great, even as you add new features in the future.
What is development consulting?
All too often, your beautifully designed screens will end up looking sloppy and unrefined after being coded by the development team. What happened? Now you have to pay for revisions because the team you hired didn’t pay enough attention to detail and functionality. Development consulting means that I’ll communicate intelligently with your mobile app development team to make sure my designs are implemented perfectly both in form and function. Because I’m proficient with various types of development, I’ll know what the development team needs to do their job effectively the first time.
Do you outsource any of these services?
Nope! I’m able to deliver all of the services above on my own. That means you’ll only need to hire one person eliminating the risk of miscommunication, errors, and delays. However, you will need to hire a separate developer or developer team to bring my designs to life if you’re creating a native mobile app.
Do you offer ongoing support or maintenance?
I offer 30 days of support from the day your mobile website launches to fix errors, bugs, site crashes, etc. However, I can’t offer ongoing support or maintenance on my design work for a native mobile app. Any additional features, updates, or revisions outside our agreement will be treated as a new project subject to a new pricing and timeline.
Do you redesign apps as well?
Yes! It’s sometimes even easier to redesign an old app than create a brand new one. If you have an app that could benefit from a new design, contact me about your project!
Will I own all the project source files?
Yes! You will have full access to everything I create along with all usage rights. That includes design, development, copywriting, etc.
Matt is exceptionally talented and very well-versed in both design and web technologies. I highly recommend him as a standout creative talent knowing that he will be an asset to anyone he works with.
